
Emily D. Johns is a 2021 graduate of the University of Memphis, Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law and is licensed to practice law in Tennessee. While in law school, she was a member of the Health Law Society. Upon graduation, she received a health law certificate, honoring the clinic work and numerous classes that she completed. She also participated in the Alternative Spring Break program where she was immersed in juvenile court proceedings and foster care reviews.
Emily joined Gibson Perryman as a law clerk in March of 2021. It was not until starting at the firm that Emily realized her passion for litigation. She has since passed the Bar Exam and was licensed in the State of Tennessee. Throughout her time at Gibson Perryman, Emily sat 3rd chair in a federal race and age discrimination trial, where the jury awarded our client $11.7 million in damages. Additionally, she sat 2nd chair in a sex discrimination trial where the jury awarded our client $300,000 in damages.
Prior to becoming an attorney, Emily was a lifelong student. Emily obtained a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Arkansas State University in 2018. Originally an Arkansas native, Emily moved to Memphis at the start of her law school career in 2018.
Emily has always had a passion for helping others, and she brings that to her daily practice of law. She is currently a guardian ad litem in Shelby County Juvenile Court and represents children in cases of abuse and neglect. She strives to show her clients compassion and empathy while fighting for them, no matter the case.
Outside of the office, Emily loves to read, travel, and spend time with her family.
